Metamorphizing with the Templates by Elektra Porzel

What is Metamorphosis:

Metamorphosis is a profound change in form from one state to the next in the life history of an organism, as from the caterpillar to the pupa and from the pupa to the adult butterfly. In humans we are not changing our outward form so much as our internal and external energetic functioning. We have access to the consciousness of other dimensions, and we can bring that consciousness into this reality, this dimension, and include it in the metaphoric field humanity lives in.

How do we experience this?

Probably differently than we might have thought it would be. We have no history with this kind of shift just as the caterpillar doesn’t know that it will become a butterfly. What some of us have experienced is: sometimes there is physical pain, discomfort; sometimes there is emotional crazy making such as feelings of abandonment, blame, feeling skinless and fragile. Then there is the experience on the other side. A feeling of being held by our Source, aha’s, openness to more, freedom from old compressing habits or thought patterns.

We are awakening to our new form which isn’t just physical even though the body does get to release areas of congestion and contraction. Sometimes the body unfolds as well into something healthier. Somehow, we must surrender back into being in an operational system that we haven’t been consciously aware of before…the reality of unity.

Human beings have an original design that we remember in some part of our consciousness or all these efforts over the last five thousand years would not have been attempted. Somewhere inside of us is the craving to return to the state and functioning of our original design.

For the recorded history that we have access to, humans have been seeking to comprehend [to become present to] how our Flesh and our Spirit work together to create an optimal state of balance in our expansion [all ways moving into the next greater whole] of our physical and nonphysical health.

In the past, mental perception was not as recognized as it has become in the last centuries of human awakening. Now, not only are we seeking to restore [open up into] our place in the Universe and our unity with Earth, but we are also seeking to comprehend [mentally perceive] the language of creation that allows this.

Why do we seek a balance in our physical and nonphysical systems? What drives us in this search?

The memory of our original design is in our brains (head and gut) and in our bodies. It lives in our yearning for the strength, stamina, and capacity for wholeness that we sense [our sentient intelligence] that we must have carried as our norm at one time. This state of our original design existed somewhere before we became separated from our connections with Creation, with our larger Beingness, from our connections with nature, and our connections with each other.

If you view the toroidal accordion, you see that there is a constant flow of movement within the accordion. Imagine the flow moves from above to below. What would it be like if we were consciously conscious of beginning in the infinite, in energy, in spirit, in the sacred, in the alchemical and aware of the flow moving through us into our secular finite human life, our matter, and our biochemical flesh. Ideally, we would move naturally in the same way that this accordion does. This is why we are exploring the body. It is a partner with our Spirit which together they are the original nature of our original design.

Optimally, our body is designed to have access to the ‘so above/so below’ flow. Many of us have this craving to return our bodies to their original design today. Imagine what it would be like to be able to be in the flow of the accordion with ease. What would your life be like if you lived primarily within the midpoint [the center of the accordion] of balance of matter and energy, finite and infinite, biochemical, and alchemical, flesh and spirit? How would you experience life if your living was a balance point that moved you easily into higher spiritual energies?

How do the Templates of the Language of Creation support us through this metamorphosis?

In the Creation Exercises of the Language of Creation, we write out our cravings for a life full of life-enhancing and life-generating things, states, events etc. As we write those Creation Exercises, we access this ‘so above/so below’ flow. Our bodies access this ‘so above/so below’ flow and inform us what is life-enhancing or life-depleting through our Sentient Registers. Sentient Registers arise from our Solar Plexus (also known as our Gut Brain) which generates our Cravings. Our Observing Creation Exercises are generated out of the capacities of our third eye as the body accesses the ‘so above/so below’ flow. In this image of the Vitruvian Man, we can see how the energy of our Cravings and Observings move out into our life and the world around us. The body’s access to the ‘so above/so below’ flow allows us to change how we live our lives.

The Creation Templates are designed to activate the metapoints of your physical body and your non-physical being, your Spirit. The Craving Templates interact with your Glial-Neuronal networks and expand both the content of the glial cells and the intersections of the neurons with other glial cells. These networks can elicit both reaction and response based on the content of your glial cells – is that information life-enhancing or life-defeating…is that information historic or something that you are present to? Your Creation Exercises give you more diversified glial-neuronal networks that dominate in what is life-enhancing, life-generating for you. Your Creation Exercises give you more choices in how you be in the world.

This reality of unity was once humanity’s regular reality. Something occurred where we were separated from our unity with each other with and with our Source, Creation. Create a place for your larger Self, your meta-Self to be here. To create a sense of balance, to reset yourself when confused or feeling destabilized, just ask your meta-Self, “Am I good to go today?” We have to re-stabilize in time; we must have actions to take in time.

The Observing and Observing being templates are used wonderfully anytime. If you are in an emotional state that you can’t stop the chattering, the life-defeating emotions, or looping thoughts, then that is the time to write your observing or Observing being exercises. Think them in your mind if you are out, write them when you have pen or paper. Write them until the looping or the life-depleting energies subside. New phrases for your Craving or Craving being Creation Exercises often arise out of writing an Observing or Observing being Exercise. They are your pupa stage.

What is home to you?

For some of us, the word ‘home’ carries the societal ideal of a two-parent family and a wanting to return to this early safe place, or an imaginary home fulfilling all that we think home should be. For others, the word ‘home’ may hold trauma, fear even anger and needing to get away. Your home could have been safe, or it could have been a dangerous place for a child to navigate.

Let’s look at what you hold for ‘home’ to be. What comes up in your mind or your emotions when you think/say the word ‘home’?

Is ‘home’ a physical place? Or is it a way that you feel about the idea of home? Or does the feeling of home arise when you are in a different place? When I think of home, I think of my childhood homes (Los Alamos NM, Chicago IL, Falls Church VA, we moved for Dad’s jobs). I also think of the homes where I raised my children in Virginia. Along with the physical location of our homes, we have sentient registers for what ‘feels like’ home, even if you have never been to a location before. Maybe it’s even in another city or country. In my travels, I experienced places in Peru that felt like home, like I lived there before. I have had friends who mentioned this phenomenon when visiting cities in Europe. Have you experienced other places that ‘feel’ like home?

So, what does ‘home’ or ‘being home’ mean to you? What arises in your memory, your emotions, your imagination?

What do you crave the word/concept ‘home’ to mean for you?

The easiest way to get to the description of what you want ‘home’ to be (not the negative that you may have experienced and probably an expansion of the positive that you have experienced) is to write your Creation Exercises using Template 3 and 4. Template 3 ‘Craving what home is for me is’ or Template 4 ‘Craving what being home is for me is being’ are phrases that you could use. Remember you write only life-enhancing or life-generating phrases, so any of those negative or life-defeating thoughts aren’t a part of your Creation Exercises and therefore not part of what ‘home’ will be for you in the future. In writing your Creation Exercises using Template 3 or 4, you are defining the word home differently so that any time in the future when you hear or think the word home, these life-enhancing phrases dominant in your glial neural networks. These new phrases are then part of what appears in your mind and your emotions when you hear the word ‘home’ and thus support you in choosing a response that is resonant for you.

For individuals looking for their next best earth-based home, writing these Creation Exercises will help you choose not just how that home will feel for you but also where the next location for your home is for you. So, you might write, ‘Craving what my next best location for my home is for me is’ or ‘Craving what my next best home is for me is’. For individuals who want to describe their Spirit’s home of origin in the Universe, these Creation Exercise will support you in connecting to that dimensional home. You might write ‘Craving what my Spirit’s home of origin is for me is’.

What does the phrase ‘coming home’ mean to you?

When I was in my late 20s that phrase ‘coming home’ generated in both my mother and myself, a reversal back to our roles when I left home to marry. I found it both confusing, and discomforting as I was an adult in my own life and somewhat comforting that my mother would slip so easily back into old patterns of how she showed her love for me. To help you define how you want to feel when ‘coming home’, I suggest that you write a Creation Exercise using Template 3, ‘Craving what coming home is for me is’. We create our reality based our beliefs and our languaging of those beliefs. Templates 3 & 4 are perfect for defining what we want ‘coming home’ to be for us. Even now in my senior years, the words ‘coming home’ begin to define the transition time for me, what do I want that transition to be like and what do I expect after death.

Your Creation Exercises help support you in living the life that you crave. Templates 3 & 4 are pivotal in your process of reclaiming words from your language so that they support you in making choices resonant with your cravings for the present and for the future. All those life-enhancing life-generating phrases that you write are simultaneously added to your glial neural networks. What occurs for us is truly magical. If the word ‘home’ had negative connotations for you, then after you have written a full Template 3 Creation Exercise on ‘Craving what home is for me is’, the word ‘home’ now has 12 new life-generating phrases linked to it. How Do We Think What We Need to Think? by Elektra Porzel

First a word for traditions renewing us to life renewing itself! May 1st is May Day, the midpoint between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. The earliest evidence of this celebration is in the 2^nd century so probably that it was celebrated for both the beauty of nature and for its fertility. The best-known modern May Day traditions include dancing around the May Pole and crowning the Queen of May. Take a minute to smile, look around and treasure the bounty of nature showing itself!!

In addition to being something that we treasure, that we repeat often, our traditions are basically thought patterns encoded in our neural networks and glia cells in our brains. The emotions and physical sensations associated with those traditions are likewise embedded in those networks. Those neural networks and glia cells hold everything that we think is real and how we should act in the world. All that information, all those beliefs, all those perspectives come from our family, our culture, our religion, our country. They frame how we experience our world and the way that we come to the moment, to life.

…human beings think they are their thinking. They think their thoughts are their thoughts. You do not realize your thoughts are thoughts born of cultural structures that leave you trying to fix ‘you’, not your thought patterns. Tantra Maat

If everything in your brains is historic information/beliefs given to you by your family, your religion, your culture, how do know what is your own truth…about yourself, about your place in the world? What are your own possibilities, what is your calling or what are those niggles to be or do differently? Do you need to create different ways to come to being with others, to being with nature, the land and the earth? Just doing the same thing or thinking the same thoughts will not give you a different future.

So, how do you know how to think differently, how to be differently? How do you come to the present moment differently, to create new ways to act in the world? You start with this recognition that your thoughts are not your thoughts. This gives you the perspective of asking…is this really what I believe? What information/perspective am I not aware of?

Next, what do you note about about your society? On a larger scale, what do your historic beliefs say about our institutions, are they sustainable for coming generations? Or if that doesn’t seem supported with evidence, how can you be part of identifying and creating a new more sustainable future for your self, for your family and for humanity? Many authors are speaking to this need now. I am reading Charles Eisenstein and Tyson Yunkaporta. Both these authors predict that our western society is not capable of having a sustainable future as it presently operates. Start with reading these authors to stimulate your thinking.

Reading other sources of information is a starter to opening your mind to the more that is actually present. Then add ‘being with others’ to your search, I suggest that you take the time to be in conversations with others to investigate perspectives different than your own. These partners in conversations should be equally dedicated to discovery and non-judgment. If they are stuck in historic and/or judgmental positions, then they are not the partners that you seek. You don’t have to agree with these conversation partners. You are with them to broaden your own awareness and find how your perspective shifts or expands.

This search through reading and conversation helps your neural networks to expand and connect to these new pieces of data. That makes them a more flexible network where choosing to respond is now possible. In the past, if your neural network was limited, there was only reaction. With more branches and connections, your neural pathways are numerous. You can take a breath and make a choice for what is the most life-sustaining option for you.

I discovered almost 8 years ago that there is one tool that supports me in this process of increasing the diversity of my neural network connections, the Templates of the Language of Creation. When I use the Templates to write my Creation Exercises, I am deepening my search for my own inner wisdom and my connection with Creation/Source. This happens for every writer of their Creation Exercises. The Templates only demand that we write life-generating, life-enhancing phrases. Just writing one Creation exercise results in over 16 life-enhancing phrases connected to that one Craving. 16 life-enhancing phrases now embedded in our neural networks as part of one Craving. The Observing Templates help us stop our looping thoughts and emotions and help us see with clarity where we truly are in the moment.

The Language of Creation’s Templates give us access to our real thoughts of our Original Design and access to the personality within which those thoughts exist. There are new energies coming into earth at this time. They are here to help us in our search for our Original Design and our deeper connection to Creation. Many of us are shifting out of our historic personalities and becoming more of whom we came here to be. We each are part of this body of humanity which is on the verge of restoring the wholeness of their Original Design and birthing their future Selves.

Our journey to discover our larger Self, our Being whom we came here to be, doesn’t end with reading a couple of books or having a couple of conversations or from writing a couple of Creation Exercises. These are ongoing activities over time during which we observe what is shifting in our lives. How are we coming to life differently? How are we being differently? What impact is our shifting behaviors having on others? What are we willing to be? What are we willing to commit to on behalf of a better future for ourselves and coming generations?

Over time, we shift out of our historic thinking and our historic habits. We start walking our talk, the being and thinking of our Original Design. We welcome being part of creating a new sustainable reality for future generations. Take the first step today! Welcome to the miraculous journey of the rest of your life!

We hear a lot about the word consciousness these days. It wasn’t a common word 50 years ago or even 10 years ago. So, what does consciousness mean?

Dictionary definitions

…the awareness or perception of something by a person:” her acute consciousness of Mike’s presence”

…the fact of awareness by the mind of itself and the world: “consciousness emerges from the operations of the brain.”

…an awareness of yourself and the world. Research on consciousness has focused on understanding the neuroscience behind our conscious experiences.

These definitions don’t fit my experience of the journey into greater consciousness not only of what is ‘me’ but also of what is my ‘Self’ that came here on earth to be, to do and to have. My larger Being, this Self, holds why I came here, my unique and essential gift to earth and humanity. It is not a straightforward awareness of my mind nor is it a straightforward awareness of the greater dimensions that interact with humanity. It is both. We are both matter and energy; finite and infinite. Our experience of consciousness depends on both dualities operating in our being in the world.

First let’s look at our brains, where most people think consciousness resides

– the head brain, the Gut Brain and the heart.

Up until the 1980s and 1990s the medical profession only recognized the head brain. They also thought that it was unchangeable…that nothing could be done for people who were either born with or had injured their head brain. Two paths of inquiry changed that picture: Neuroplasticity and the Gut Brain. Research into what we now call neuroplasticity has proved that the head brain is the most malleable organ in the body. Other research discovered the second brain/gut brain has almost the same white and gray matter as the head brain and most of the neurotransmitters. Our experiences are stored in glial neural pathways that connect all three areas of our brains.

Now imagine how an individual’s consciousness about their own possibilities would shift when they have physicians who come from these new perspectives. We can imagine how just these new awarenesses would open up new possibilities for both the patient and the doctor. It’s the combination of new perspectives and new actions that will help the patient and the doctor live differently and thus live a different experience of consciousness. It is with our brains/minds and our spirit that we create new possibilities such that there are new levels of consciousness experienced over time.

Other current research on consciousness focuses on locations within the brain where consciousness is sourced: The frontal lobe or the back of the brain. It may be that these paths of research will yield more information on how the human head brain supports our consciousness and they do not fully address how the wider/deeper/higher levels of consciousness are achieved through both matter and energy. In both systems, there isn’t a path to discovering what the larger field of dimensional consciousness is beyond our matter, our body, and our brains. It’s not a knowing that can be achieved by looking only at the physicality of our brains.

Then what is the mind?

It’s the functioning of the three brains – the enteric nervous system/gut brain, the heart and the head brain all connected by the Vagus Nerve and our Spirit. We think of it as our intellect or maybe everything we experienced in the past through thinking, willing something to be, etc. Our brains hold all the information, ideas, beliefs that we have been fed by our larger society, our family, our religion. These beliefs/truths are stored in pathways in all our brains. So, when we ‘think’ our mind is ‘thinking’ we are mostly simply regurgitating what we learned earlier in life. We are not actually thinking something new, instead we are repeating the old statements that were given to us as the truth about the world.

Ancient spirituality believed that the Solar Plexus housed our Spirit. If that is true and the glial neural networks are located there, what communications are arising through your enteric nervous system/solar plexus? Is this how our spirit informs our mind/brain? When writing our Creation Exercises, we often experience sentience registers arising from our solar plexus. Often people exclaim how they are surprised by the deep wisdom that is written in their ‘embodied’ phrase. Is that their spirit talking? Their deepest wisdom? Creation? Our brains take this wisdom and integrate it into the neural networks about the Craving phrases that we choose. Our mind of our consciousness then is both in matter and thru spirit.

How do we change if we are simply repeating what we have been told?

We can’t think newly if we never explore ourselves outside of the box that has been provided us. Dipping your mind into the wider arena of discovery starts the process of consciousness.

What are ways that we can expand our thinking?

There are tools for the individual to use in this journey of ‘opening up to’ different perspectives, different information…changing perspectives, listening within conversation, writing your Creation Exercises. The Newfield Network suggests that you step outside your normal thinking and investigate new perspectives. Like the five blindmen who disagree what an elephant is…. when they ‘opened up to’ the idea that the other blindman might have a different experience of the elephant…they could change their position around the elephant and thus gain another perspectives. Eventually the ‘all’ of what an Elephant is would be clear to them.

The same happens with each of us when, in listening and conversation, we ‘open up to’ others’ perspectives, others’ wonderings, others’ hopes, others’ values and their common humanity. Our comprehension of what more there is to the world and to life expands our glial neural networks with more pathways; we have more choices in our thinking; and our levels of reactions lessen as these additional choice points makes responding instead of reacting to input more possible. When we write our Creation Exercises, we are increasing our glial neural networks with life-enhancing, life-generating phrases. As we move from writing our Creation Exercises on Template 1, then 2…then 3…then 4,…then 5,…then 6…., and then 7, we are writing from higher and higher levels of our own consciousness intertwined with and inspired by our relationship with Creation.

These expansions help us access levels of consciousness that we hadn’t imagined before. To achieve new perspectives, new common knowing with another and within ourselves, we must shift what we do to listen both externally and internally. In those actions we raise our consciousness levels.

What are the ways that you can search out different perspectives?

I use conversation with others who listen fully with their minds, their bodies, their hearts, and their spirit. They want to open up to others’ perspectives. They are looking to create a future that takes care of everyone on earth including nature, the land, and the waters. Conversations with these people open me up to others’ ideas and information, their wonderings, and their hopes. We use language to explore these ideas. Our language is expanded through these conversations and then becomes anchored as words with larger meanings in our brains. Those meanings carry cognitive and sentient information which makes the new neural pathways part of our whole system, body, mind, and spirit.

In order to language my inner consciousness journey, I use the Templates of the Language of Creation to give myself a connection to Creation and to access the deeper wisdom of my Spirit and Creation. It is in the regular writing of my Creation Exercises that I deepen my own consciousness of who I have been (my historic self) and of my Self…whom I deeply am, whom I came to earth to be, to do and to have. I experience these two processes…the observing of what is occurring and the craving of something new in my life. This interaction of Observing and Craving is integral to my consciousness. They cannot be separated out as just one or the other. We must reflect on where we are to take our next step to creating the life that we crave.

If we are to create a more viable and sustainable future for coming generations, we must come to the world, to ourselves differently. We must operate within consciousness experiences that are wider, deeper, higher than that within which we were born and raised. We raise up others as we raise up our own consciousness. We come to others differently when we ‘see’ from a higher level of consciousness.

That means learning to identify our historic patterns and habits and lessen them. That means changing how we be with others in our families, in our communities. We must look to creating a world, a society that works for everyone. Our present economic system does not do that. Our present healthcare system does not do that. Our present educational and judicial systems do not do that. Paying deliberate attention in these ways creates new experiences of consciousness of the wholeness of all life on earth. All life is interconnected, interdependent, interrelated. In that experience, we will return to honoring and respecting not just all people but also nature, the land, and the waters. Without this whole system response to the earth home and its inhabitants, we won’t be creating a sustainable future for our grandchildren and coming generations. That whole system recognition is a higher level of consciousness than most humans in western societies have lived in the last centuries. We look to the ways of our indigenous peoples who still hold the ways of being one with the land, with nature and each other. It is in their traditions and practices that we discover all that we modern western humans have lost in our experience of connection and consciousness.

Traditions…Hindrance or Support?

Traditions! Do they support us or hinder us?

We all have celebrated shows where the children defy the traditions and prosper. Fiddler on the Roof comes to mind with one daughter refusing an arranged marriage and another marrying out of her religion and culture. We witnessed the joys and the difficulties of these choices. We also have been part of or heard of families broken by the children’s decision to live their lives differently. In my generation, it was intermarrying between culture/religion groups and then racial groups. Now it’s children defying being what their gender has traditionally been in their family lineage and/or in their culture’s definitions of gender. All this change, while welcome in some parts, is never easy. Our families’ traditions are often based in a larger cultural context and that is based in an earlier time when adherence to tradition assured the individual’s and the family’s survival. Our family’s reaction to our changing of traditions can be separation, hurt, judgment, shaming as well as welcoming, integration, owning.

In the beginning of these tradition challenges, we are not always aware of the ultimate value that this shift to the family/societal structure and functioning will be. When it occurs on a societal level, it is harder to monitor and control the positioning of old=good, new=bad scenarios. As we negotiate how to celebrate holidays, how to speak to others of these choices, of altered expectations, there is an up and down of the roller coaster of creating new ways of being, new norms for the family or the society. We are watching an extreme response to change in our legislatures in the USA trying to limit choice, to limit voting, to make silence about the real history a mandatory action, to push back the clock of change. Ultimately they won’t succeed AND they make the process of integration so much harder for the society as a whole and for the individuals within it. While they voice their actions as trying to protect society for the future, they are actually lessening the viability of the society for the future.

We must create a new reality for humanity to live within, to prosper within. That future must meet the criteria of sustainability. Our traditions, our institutions are all up for needing change. We are seeing them falling apart right now. My questions is this: How do we create a sustainable future for our children, our grandchildren and future generations coming? How do we navigate these times without falling into judgment, shame, blame? How do we open up to the greater benefits and be compassionate to ourselves and others in the bumpy road of navigation to a new norm, a new pattern of living as a family, as an individual, as a society?

These questions are all up in two discussion series that we are offering through the Language of Consciousness Institute this month. ‘Becoming a Modern Indigen’ explores what we could gain from reviewing the practices and thinking of indigenous peoples, of our long-ago ancestors. In ‘SandTalk” by Tyson Yunkaporta, he suggests that our present western society’s traditions and institutions are not viable as a sustainable culture for the future. He offers for our investigation the practices and thinking of the aboriginal peoples of Australia. In Becoming a Modern Indigen, we will explore his thesis chapter by chapter…trying out some of the practices, writing our Creation Exercises around those ideas. Discovering the Deeper Natures of Unpacking, By Elizabeth Geyer

Have you ever had a topic you were super interested in take you down many different pathways to relate to it? Have you ever had that topic become almost a friend, and not let you go? This has been unpacking for me!

Way back in November of 2022, I could see in my mind’s eye, a gathering place, with people gathered around a fire, telling stories and sharing their experiences. I felt such a deep kinship with this group that had not yet shown itself! Guess what? That group surfaced, and began to meet to immerse ourselves in the writing of The Creation Templates. Then, another ‘download’ occurred over the holidays. A knowing that unpacking our lives, our journeys, and the deeper relationship with ourselves could be created. I simply kept being with that ‘can’t not’ feeling…can’t not unpack in 2023!

Currently, this amazing group has almost completed The Art of Unpacking The Creation Templates, series 1. We have just begun to form a relationship with unpacking what there is to unpack in our lives. I had no idea that unpacking had so many pathways! I also had no idea that unpacking would show up everywhere…not just in the writing of the Creation Exercises! There are so many ways to look at unpacking now!

What might you be unpacking this year? How has using a magnifying glass to unpack what is there for you shifted you being who you are? How has taking a deeper dive into the wonder of you been for you? For me, I can see unpacking everywhere! I am unpacking my health and what that is for me; I am unpacking becoming an empty nester, becoming a mom to only three cats and missing the 4th one that just moved out. I am unpacking what my relationship with my daughters is for me now that they aren’t here at home anymore. My relationship with my partner and how we are here at home…another exploration…my relationship with unpacking…with others I hold dear in my life and who they are as part of this unpacking…unpacking what listening to my heart is…listening to my body…listening to my mentors…listening to Mother Earth. This list could go on and on!

The other lens I am observing from is that which has my attention, and discerning that attention with more clarity. In other words…what happens if I am writing a Creation Exercise, unpacking it, and I hit a wall? To observe further I have now learned to ask this: Have I hit a wall because the language in this phrase I am unpacking cannot hold a deeper resonance? Have I hit a wall because the phrase has ‘unearthed’ discomfort and I am not certain I have the strength to follow the unpacking thread? These are questions I have never asked mySelf. What do I ‘do’ if the Template falls flat? Well…newsflash…I am coming to discern that writing that falls flat means I need to let Time pass and let the mind, body and spirit ‘steep’. Knowing I am uncomfortable about something only makes me want to persevere to follow that thread to walk along the path to move to the next greater whole! And looking more deeply if the writing isn’t resonating at all has also been part of the experience of unpacking. Choosing to write a Creation Exercise more mindfully and slowly has been a big help to solve the issue of my writing falling flat.

If you are unpacking, and you run into a wall…I call it a firewall…perhaps ask your heart some of these questions. This year I am working on relevancy and potency of exploring mySelf and Her deeper natures of Being. “S.H.E.” has a lot to say and is loving Her audience!

Unpacking the deeper nature of Being and Self is an amazing journey thus far. I would love to share this experience of unpacking with you! In hindsight, I am so blown away by the deeper nature of life that has shown up all around me, loved ones, my communities, both local and global, with the Earth and the Universe…this is BIG? Yes?!! Who wouldn’t want this amazing experience?

What is a Modern Indigen?

In Western societies, we have lost much of what our indigenous ancestors thought about the world and how they interacted with it. In studying present-day indigenous peoples, we can extrapolate that our indigenous ancestors were part of a connected relationship with each other, with the land and with nature. Those relationships included their access thru their bodies, their emotions, and their minds. Many of us have lost those regular connections. Our western focus is on activities that pull us into the mind which defines how things are different and not how they are the same, not how the other is connected to the ‘me’ and to the ‘us’, not how our bodies inform us and how our emotions inform us. Thus, the reality that we live within is one of separation. This is not a sustainable mind/body/spirit reality for humanity to build on for the future.

Many present-day humans are seeking to reestablish these connections with their body, their emotions and their minds. They are seeking to be differently in their relationships to each other, to the land and to nature. We are seeking to recreate a reality of unity with all life, so that our children, our grandchildren, and the coming generations will have access to a world where there is a place for everyone and everything. A world where everyone can be supported in bringing their unique gifts to the community. A world where the people hold the common good in their actions and thinking. That’s my version of a Modern Indigen.

How do we relearn some of the ways our indigenous ancestors thought and how they interrelated with the world?

Each of us are the descendants of some indigenous people. Some are still active in that lineage while many of us are dozens to hundreds of generations away from our indigenous lineage. Though we can’t go back in time, we can look at how the indigenous peoples of the present-day think and act together. That viewing can give us a more vivid comprehension of what it means to be in connection with the land and nature. To be in the wholeness of thinking of and with, of acting within the whole.

In ‘SandTalk’ by Tyson Yunkaporta, the author describes and explores different ways that his aboriginal ancestors (and his present day indigenous community) connected as individuals and as a group; how they thought and how they acted together while in relationship with the whole.

This is a living example of whole system thinking where we examine the whole as one actively in connection with others. There is no examining one piece at a time as we have done in our western thinking. This is a wider, deeper, higher way of holding the other while in a dynamic connection. It feels to me that if we take the time to dive deeper, we can ‘get it in our bones’ and thus come to comprehend how we might think and act differently.

Yunkaporta offers to the reader the opportunity to listen to the activity in its placement within a whole culture. What would it mean to live in the wholeness of such an activity in the western culture, in our larger friend/families or kin groupings? How can we teach ourselves and our children to move into practices of whole system thinking and acting? Will such a move give our children and grandchildren a future that is sustainable for generations upon generations?

I hope that this intrigues you, interests you. I am offering all of us an opportunity to delve deeply into these ideas in ‘Sandtalk’ with a program called Becoming a Modern Indigen.

Starting on March 15th, I will be leading a book discussion/immersion group where, for each call, we will discuss not only the ideas put forth in a chapter, but also we will explore how to live that concept/practice in our lives. For those of us who write the Creation Exercises, we will write a Creation Exercise on a term or idea from that chapter.

I sense that this book needed a deeper look than just a one time reading. I want to create a better future for my descendants and yours. Only in the deeper wider thinking can we try on these practices in ways that might work in the present. This is a deeper dive. Hopefully we will be integrating these new ways of thinking about and being with others into our daily lives.

My plan is for the group to meet every two weeks starting on March 15^th at 9amPT.

I recommend all these versions for you to use in your deepening into the more of what we humans can be and do.

On a beautiful fall day, in the middle of a small town, full of festival goers, I had my first real experience of scaling. My heart raced, agitation and irritation were upon me. My solar plexus was on fire with a feeling like dread. All of a sudden, everything around me became brighter, louder, and my sense of smell heightened. All of my senses were so attuned to everything in a minute’s time. I knew I could no longer stay at this sweet fall festival. I had no idea what was happening to me. I had no idea that I was experiencing an ‘up leveling’. My body instinctively knew (my mind did not), that I needed to ground myself. I found a park with a stream nearby and laid next to the stream for three hours! Energy stabilized in the body, and the agitation slowly dissipated. This first experience of scaling was the longest, and most profound event. Since then, there have been several events like this, with differing experiences, varying from extreme agitation to irritation that did not dissipate for hours at a time, to feeling very emotional. Once I knew I was in another recursion (event) of scaling, just being aware helped calm the systems.

What IS scaling then? To assist myself, I wrote an acrostic poem above. Experience has shown (only my own…yours might be quite different), that scaling happens when we are moving from one energetic place to another. Sometimes scaling happens slowly over time…perhaps days, or slowly over hours. Sometimes it can come on quickly. I recall being in a body of work with Tantra Maat a couple of years ago. We were beginning something new, and suddenly, I felt a huge rush of energy happen in my solar plexus. I wasn’t certain how to handle it. I realized I was scaling, and this was another register…the rush in my solar plexus. I was also a bit lightheaded. I recall Tantra having me breathe fully and slowly. I also recall feeling as though there was not enough room in my abdomen for the amount of air coursing through it. I imagined a huge balloon, expanding out with each breath. Soon, I was able to feel a balance occur in the body, and my head felt better aligned, the dizziness dissipating.

Scaling is a fascinating experience. There are many situations that might have us scale. One might be a shift in the energy on the planet. Another can occur when we are in an event with many, many people, and the feeling of unity brings a huge rush of energy into the systems. Yet another might happen as we write the Creation Exercises; particularly the last three-5,6 &7. As we delve more deeply into our explorations of Self and the world around us, we can experience scaling in our writing. I remember a few times when I was writing these exercises and there was such a huge rush as I read the finished exercise to myself!

I am on a quest to be with scaling as I unpack the deeper nature of mySelf this year. I am not a beginner with experience scaling, yet I am a beginner with articulating it, and describing my experiences with scaling will continue to give me new perspectives, which will assist me in sharing clarity with others and myself.

The Art of Unpacking the Templates by Liz Geyer

Welcome to 2023! Happy New Years to you!

It is a new year, and is a time to be with ourselves to create something new to move into. I am sitting with two brilliant questions Elektra proposed:

“How do I come to know mySelf more?

How do I become more of who I came here to be? ”

Have you been pondering such questions?

What response does your body have when reading and hearing the word ‘unpacking?

I have asked mySelf these questions before. This year, I want to try something different by diving more deeply into this inquiry by unpacking a template three, specifically around ‘spiritual maturity.’

Step 1:

I crave to sit with ‘unpacking’. In the past, I have had some less than great experiences with the ‘unpacking’ idea in the school system. I want to move beyond those experiences of ‘unpacking’, thus, I went to the dictionary!

According to Grammarist.com, unpacking is: “To remove things from a box, suitcase or other container. “

Unpacking has also come to mean, “To analyze something, to take apart an idea and examine each detail. This involves a sort of deconstruction.”

I found out this last meaning came into play in the late 1980’s. Now it is seen as a buzzword in some circles. So correct!

The mind now wants to move into writing a Template 3: “Craving what unpacking is for me is.” This way, I can be an observer to see differently.

Before moving into writing this Template, I want to explore the definition a bit further.

Another source, ‘CITE’ gives a definition that intrigues me: “To unburden, as the mind; reveal.”

This definition is the one I wish to explore further! Focusing my observing lens, I want to explore unpacking the Templates to open ever-deepening layers of the Self to become a more perceptive observer of the many aspects of ourSelves. I crave to reveal more hidden gems of who I AM in addition to (goddess, treasure, crone, magician, gnome, grumpy, almost 101 year-old feisty grandma, sha-woman).

Who else might be here within mySelf to bring into the light?

Whom else might there be to reveal within YourSelf?

Step two:

After exploring a definition, if a word pops out for me, writing an acrostic poem sometimes gives me a deeper sense of the intrigue of the word. In this instance, I was intrigued with the word ‘REVEAL’. I was able to train my camera lens more deeply here:

Revealing regenerative relevance

Enlightened exceptional epiphanies

Validate vast vibrancies

Eagerly explore ‘earnestnesses’ empathies

Activate adventurous, authentic access

Lighthearted, loyally learning loving leadership

What a wealth of in-formation occurred in the language here.

Is there any language that stirs something in you?

For me, I am feeling the beauty of ‘enlightened exceptional epiphanies’. If we are unpacking something, finding ever deeper and more colorful layers of who We are, the word ‘epiphany’ lights up like a Christmas tree! What is revealed in the activity is an art…epiphanies are certain to be unearthed!

Step three…

Now to observe from a different perspective. What if we began to see, hear, feel and sense that the Template writing practice is an art form?

I am sitting here pondering this. Hmm, what…if?

Training my lens on a picture,

seeing the templates as brushing colors onto a canvas…

my solar plexus is lighting up with joy in seeing this picture!

My Experience

There is no clench of dread now! Only excitement! I can see a young child opening a box to reveal a bright light of magic, a bit like a Norman Rockwell painting. I can see this in my mind’s eye.

What if unpacking with the templates looked like this? “ Such a sublime activity”, my wise Self says!

I do admit that sometimes writing the Templates becomes something I know I have to do, yet…

…with this new way of observing

…with this new excitement running through my systems,

I am now going to shift my observer to be with the “Art” of writing the templates and try this perspective on this year! What a great way to begin the year through this beautiful art medium of unpacking.

Are You in the Practice of Becoming? by Victoria McMahon

What does ‘practice’ evoke in you?

A specific feeling….excitement….dread….curiosity?

A body response of contraction or tension ….heaviness?

Maybe it is a tingling in the hands/legs? Or even butterflies in your solar plexus area?

Pause and listen….

How about the word ‘becoming’?

Is it about the mystery or curiously not knowing that arises or is it feelings of confusion…even yet, thoughts popping in about making plans or setting goals.

How do these thoughts connect with your body response to the word?

You may not really give it that much attention in the daily routine of life. And in the typical western culture of the holiday season, you may be so wrapped up in ‘to do’s’ that the considering of who you are right now and who you are becoming is overlooked at best.

In moving towards the close of 2022, I am struck by words like reflections, endings, integration, and deepening coming more into the forefront of conversation with others. In the inner dialogue and external acknowledging, I invite you into taking stock of what you are moving with and towards as 2023 draws nearer.

In the Language of Consciousness Institute December 1st newsletter, Elektra shared her observations of the year of our Team journey. What we are curious about and interested in discovering with you is in direct relationship with our group practice in Becoming.

For all of us, the timing of now is perfectly designed for steeping in

Observing

and Observing Being.

These Templates offer you reflection and integration. They become the steps towards individually deepening in longing to be your unique Becoming.

Do you have a practice of being intentional in your Becoming?

Can you voice the commitment you create on behalf of you…others?

If not, is having a practice for Becoming inviting, even intriguing? Can you imagine for a moment what you might crave to include?

For me, the practice of Becoming has specific elements:

Awareness
Presence
Moving Sentiently
Opening up into Self
Embodiment

These elements may become your foundation for creating a practice…living the exploration. Allow these elements to support you in discovering the language of your body, your emotional being, your mental mind; thus supporting you in the practice of Becoming?

Do you experience your body communicating…languaging its craving for you?. Offering a longing of Becoming?

Is it in the listening of sensation….

the tracking of tension/ relaxation…

the developing of your registers of sensory knowing?

Do you hold yourself more compassionately…and how do you feel that occurring in you?

Are you fully present in your emotional being?

Is this feeling of presence in emotion occurring in a way that you are able to be with and move as the observer of the emotion rising?

This is a beginning inquiry into the ‘what and how’ of registering you as a Sentient Being…a being in the state of Becoming.

Consider the most recent time of feeling overwhelmed, either in a state of elation or full despair…were you able to hold in your full capacity to be in the experience of Self in ‘whole system response’?

Allow me to share an example of feeling overwhelmed….in a state of pure elation. While on a shared field journey in Glastonbury, U.K., we were in an experience in relationship with water and the sacred Chalice Well. As I entered the garden area, I experienced a deep pulsing energy in the body and felt the physical pull of my being towards two yew trees that felt to be guardians of the Well. My gaze lifted and I absorbed myself in connection with the beauty of the trees while my body was being drawn towards these two guardian trees. I mentally realized I was in body and emotion languaging and thoughts came through to hand off my belongings to another in the field so I could be with what was sentiently rising in body and emotion. Within a brief time, I found myself face down on Earth…feeling the pulsing of the body connecting with the pulsing roots of the tree, extending its energy to connect with me! Tears began to stream out…body heaving and feeling full elation upon this being. My capacity to be fully present was overwhelming elation and then some aspect of me put the brakes on it! In that moment, I had the awareness of stopping the Self from being her fullness in Becoming. The whole system response was present and yet not sustained and maintained to full embodiment of Self in relationship with All.

This experience is a powerful experience that in-forms continued commitment to practice in Becoming.

Is there an experience for you that in-forms you of your capacity to be fully present in body, emotion, mental mind being your Becoming?

Consider as well:

Is your thought language in relationship ‘to what you craving Becoming’?
Are your thoughts congruent with your emotional and physical observation of experiences and events?
Do you have opinions about what is cycling through your daily experience?
Do you notice whether you move away from or towards exploration of Becoming?
Are you conscious and present in the experience?

Are you in a distinct practice that invites you into this state of Becoming? Or, are you ready to create your practice of Becoming?
