Thriving Instead of Just Surviving
by Deborah Merchant
Most of us crave thriving over just surviving. Many of us haven’t figured out how to thrive from within the system we were born into, mostly because that conflicts with so many of our values. Yet we also don’t know how to thrive from within a system of unity, since we have a lot of drag leftover from the systems we were born into. How to “do” that from a place of unity rather than separation? What tools do we need to activate thriving, then sustain and maintain and embody it? How do we recognize thriving? Is it a state of being or doing or both? Is it a shared phenomenon based on interdependence, pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps, or some of both? Come join us monthly to explore the nature of thriving, the tools for thriving, and how to bring thriving to our individuated and collective lives.
I’m honored to serve as Sherpa for this conversation. It’s a collective exploration, a collective gathering of wisdom and a collective experiment in living. Another spiral member suggested a wonderful book called “Song of Increase: Listening to the Wisdom of Honeybees for Kinder Beekeeping and a Better World” by Jacqueline Freeman, suggesting there may be a great deal of wisdom we can gain by using this as a tool to…well….thrive from with in a system of unity. I also plan to draw on Tantra’s book “Language of Creation” as a tool. This doesn’t mean I have a pattern in mind such as a chapter per session of Tools to Thrive, because I’m sure those are just two resources available to us. I look forward to all of us presencing many resources and ideas, as we teach each other what it is to thrive, how to find what tools we need, and how to use tools to thrive as an evolutionary driver.
I’m excited to have you join me in this venture each month. I hope to see you Wed January 23 for our first conversation.
